The back story – part 1

Welcome to my journey with hcg.  I about 2 weeks away from starting phase 2.  I’m just waiting on my supplies.  For now I’ll give you some back story.

I have struggled with my weight for almost all of my adult life.  I went to college about 10 pounds over weight, which is where I had been in high school.  Mom took me to weight watchers at 14 even though she was the one with the problem at that point, not me.  But that’s where the cycle of trying to lose and failing began.   Honestly as I look back now, I wanted to “win” with mom, so I secretly ate a bunch at school to sabatoge myself.  How stupid was that?

Some of my diet attempts have been Weight Watchers, Herbalife (oh did I get sick on that one), Nutrasystem, Weigh Down Workshop, Atkins and many others.  Yeah, I have failed on every single one.   I’ve downloaded the application for the Biggest Loser TV show several times and the only thing keeping me from applying was trying to meet the video deadline in time.  I never could come to terms with finding a friend to shoot it with me.

So here I am.  I’m 38, more than 100 pounds over goal weight.  I have arthritis in my knees and PCOS which causes insulin resistance and unchecked can and often leads to diabetes.

I’ve tried a number of times on my own.  The one success was when I was on metformin for the PCOS.  I dropped 50 pounds which I’ve gained back 40 of those pounds since dropping off the metformin due to no more health insurance.

  1. I have a similar story… been on ALL the diets. If you’re ever interested, you can purchase generic metformin for a reasonable price.

  2. Amy,
I actually managed to get a script for metformin a few months ago and struggled to get back on because it gives me the runs. I do better on the XR version but decided to try this diet instead. My old doctor had told me that if I lost enough weight I wouldn’t need metformin and since this diet is working without it, I’m going for it.
